RECEIVE '
Consultants for Land, Mineral and Water Development D ~ .
SEP 011995
August 31, 1995 Division pt Minerals &
Geology
{ ...
Mr. Gary Curtiss `f ~ -
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Shermaq Street Room 215 - : ; ~ -:.
Denver, CO 80203
RB: Bucklen Equipment Company Pit; File #M-82-131; Monitoring Well Program
Deaz Mr. Curtiss:
As the consultant for Bucklen Equipment Company, we have been retained to help them develop
a groundwater monitoring phut fortheir current and future mining operations at the above -
mentioned pit! Below are the details of that plan.
Well tecord tattulations were reseazched at the Office of the State Engineer to determine the ,
approximate location of listed wells within 1/4 mile of the mining property. From that
information, we determined likely candidates based on distances from the mining site and depth
of well. A site visit was made to field locate the wells and make a final determination as to the
suitability of the well for [he monitoring plan. The enclosed map indicates the six chosen wells
imrelation to the current mining site and the permitted future mining site.
Well #1 (Mike's well) is located upgradient, approximately 750 feet west, of the currently
dewatered azea, and approximately 350 feet north of Mr. Andrews' residence. Well #2 (Downer
well) Is located less than 100 feet south of the currently dewatered area, and approximately 650
feet north and'east of Mrs. Wolfs' residence. Well #3 (Old Batch Plant) is located approxunately
550 feet east of the currently dewatered area and less than 200 feet west (upgradient) of the next
mining azea. Wells # 4, 5, and 6 (Greeley North, Jockey Pump, and Greeley South) are located
downgradient frosty the next mining area, in Island Grove Pazk. All three are between
approximately! 1,000 feet and 1,600 feet from the permit boundary.
The. wells will be monitored by an employee of Bucklen Equipment, on a monthly basis for the
first xeaz (Aug. `95 to Aug. `96), and will be monitored quarterly there after until mining
activities cease at this site. Once a year, water level measurements will be taken by an
independent contractor to help validate the data. All wells to be monitored are existing wells.
AH water level measurements will be taken after the pumps have been inactive for a sufftcient
length of time 4o allow the groundwater to reach a static level.
~1g9DGr S eet, Suite 410 • Dt;rlver,.Golorado, 80233 • {03)452-6611 • Fax 03) 48 h `
