EFCI is
proposing to utilize a waterline manhole structure near the south-
ern permit revision boundary as a subsidence monument. The struc-
ture is refered to as "Manhole and Sediment Trap No. 3" in the
McDermid Engineering Associates design drawings. The manhole
structure is supported on compacted bedding at a depth of approxi-
mately eight feet. A small point will be scribed in the concrete
surface and identified with orange paints. The City of Florence
will be notified of our intentions prior to establishing the
point.
Three monitoring monuments will be installed by EFCI north of the
manhole immediately adjacent to the waterline trench excavation.
Each monument will employ a No. 6 rebar pin set into one-foot of
mortar in a four-inch diameter hole drilled five-feet below the
existing surface. A four-foot length of three-inch diameter PVC
pipe will be installed around the rebar and extend down to the top
. of the mortar. Dry sand will be used to fill inside and around
the PVC pipe to the ground surface, Monuments will be identified
with a wooden stake and a lath with flagging.
