Recently, because of an increased volume of water encountered in
the underground workings, this pump has been operating on a full-time basis.
It would be cost effective to replace this diesel-powered pump with an elec-
tric-powered one. This would require that a power line be installed to
the site. The proposed powerline route is shown on the enclosed Figure
and Map.
The line from the existing powerline would be approximately 2750' long;
a 600 ft. branch line would extend from the pump switch-house to the
proposed line. -
The lines would be installed by A-Var Electric, a private contractor, under
the direct supervision of Dorchester. This powerline will consist of 35
feet class 6 lodge pole pine poles. The poles will be set 6 feet deep,
giving an overall .height of 29 feet. Pole spacing will be a maximum of
350 feet, spacing will be less if the terrain dictates so. REA specifica-
tions for heavy loading, using five (5) No. 4 ACSR conductors will be
followed.
All construction activity will be confined to a 20 ft. right-of-way along
the corridor. Surface disturbance will be minimal. All pole locations along
the proposed route can be accessed from existing roads or via overland
travel, with the exception of the area where the route crosses Newlin
Creek.
• In this area, a temporary access road will be required. This access road
will not need to be maintained, and only a minimal amount of ground
disturbance will result from its construction.
