;~
-z-
Calculations for runoff volume, sediment yield, and requirements for
sediment storage are based on previous assumptions and calculations provided
for the loadout area ponds. We feel the calculations are applicable since the
physical characteristics are the same as those encountered for both the
Gossard Pond (Discharge Point .003) and the Stoker Pad Pond (Discharge Point
.005). Note, however, that we intend to construct a pond slightly larger than
what the hydrology calculations indicate is required. The pond will hold both
the 20-year or 25-year rainfall event when it is dredged to uesign capacity.
Topsoil will be removed and placed at the existing topsoil storage
pile for the Stoker Pad area. Excavated material from the proposed pond will
be utilized as berm around the pond and construction of the ditch system. The
ditch system modification will also use material from the side slopes of the
existing ditch as shown in the ditch design submitted with this request. Any
excess material excavated that is not required for berm and ditch construction
will be hauled to the active mine dump or stockpiled for use at the loadout
area.
BOND
The previously agreed upon operations plan for reclamation of the
Gossard loadout area incorporated with earth moving and revegetation over top
of the proposed pond location, therefore there is a sufficient amount in the
existing bond to backfill and reclaim the proposed pond area.
We would appreciate your earliest consideration in this matter. We
would like to proceed with construction of the pond early this fall so that
• the pond can be functional before the 1985 spring runoff.
