1
' side of the lake. The landforms, coupled. with the trees, will
form a picnic area indicated on the RECLAMATION MAP.
Revegetation - Three species of trees will be planted at the site,
' including cottonless cottonwood (Populus Sargentii), willow (Salix
Sp.) and Russian olive (Elae Agnus Argustifolia). The cottonless
' cottonwood, willow, and Russian olive all thrive in this area and
have rapid rates of growth. The cottonwood trees can reach a
height of 15 to 20 feet in a five year growth period and will last
' an average of 60 to 80 years and the Russian olive takes from four
to six years to mature. A grass mixture of western wheat and yellow
' sweet clover will be applied to the reclamation site at a rate of
30 pounds per acre. The grasses will be planted with either a drill
1 seeding machine or utilizing a hydro seeding method. Those two
strains will require a minimum amount of irrigation.
The cost for the new vegetation is estimated to be approx-
' $8
Thi
i
l
090 i
i
l
d
ll l
b
hi ill
h
mate
,
y
.
s e st
mate
a
or costs, w
nc
u
es a w
c
' be done in-kind by the County, as well as the expense of the trees
which are raised in the County nursery. The following table con-
' tains revegetation cost estimates. It should be noted that 1978 is
the base year for these estimates and all figures will have to be in-
' flated to reflect curre nt prices when reclamation commences.

C-3
