Lei <br />1 <br />PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS <br />' A literature search was conducted by Dr. Paul R. Nickens at <br />the BLM District Office in Montrose, Colorado. It was found that <br />no aboriginal or historic sites had been previously recorded in the <br />' project area. Euler (1977) recorded a lithic scatter, designated <br />5DT2DD, approximately 2 miles south, and Martin (1977) recorded a <br />stone cairn, SDT230, just north of the project area. The area <br />' designated as No. 8 in Hibbets et al. (1979172) includes portions <br />of the Red Canyon Mine Plan Area, but this area was not surveyed <br />since it was primarily private land. Other reports that deal with <br />the general vicinity of the project area include Baker (1978) and <br />' Collins, et al.
