There will be no washing on
this site.
2. The applicant has no plans to store any hazardous materials on site at this time. The applicant is not an
operator and has no operator contracted at this time. If an operator wishes to store hazardous materials
on site it will be limited to diesel fuel and lubricants for crushing operations and the applicant will
commit to requiring the operator to store such materials with acceptable spill containment structures.
The applicant will also commit to submitting specifications and locations for planned storage of
hazazdous materials before such storage commences.
3. Item C of the Mining Plan and the Mining Plan Map have been revised to show Stormwater controls.
Copies are attached.
4. The site will be monitored throughout the life of the mine for the appearance of any noxious weeds.
They will be sprayed with an approved herbicide in the fall and again in the spring to maintain control.
Spraying will be done with a backpack sprayer or a tractor or ATV mounted sprayer as is common
practice on this site and surrounding farmland.
5. We have specified a maximum highwall height of 25 feet for safety reasons. The deposit being mined
has an average thickness of approximately 25 feet with an average of about 5 feet of soil and
overburden. Some areas may actually be thicker in the north end near the Fedler Pit. Hence, the
contours showing 30 feet of change. Material will be scraped from the top layers if needed to maintain
safe highwall heights.
6. The reclamation plan states that highwall reduction will be done with a combination of cut and fill and
backfilling with materials on site. We expect primarily cut and fill for this operation, but there may be
significant quantity of unmazketable fill material that was used to level the land when the original farm
fields were established. Some of this material was intended to be used to backfill haighwalls. As you
point out, we need to bond for 1 acre with 6 feet of fill in the south section of the property. Therefore,
the applicant will specify cut and fill for the highwall reduction and will use excess overburden and
topsoil, if available, in the fill process for the south pit area.
