MINING PLAN

EXHIBIT "D"
(A) Description of the methods of mining in each stage of operations related to a surface
disturbance:
Mining methods will be consistent throughout the life of the mining operation. The topsoil or
growth media will be salvaged and stockpiled on the pit perimeters in an orderly berm suitable for
seeding in the event that it is to remain for more than one growing season. The stockpiles and berms
will be placed in the most strategic locations for replacement in reclamation. The aggregate will be
removed primarily by front-end loader for transport to a screening or crushing and screening system
(probably on site) for processing into the desired products as business demand dictates and then
stockpiled for future use. According to the SCS report for Cascajo soil series which constitutes the
aggregate azea, the topsoil or growth media ranges from 4" - 8". Topsoil is a misnomer for this soil
type, since it is described as a very gravelly sand loam with 60% cobbles. Over the years some
humus has been built up in the top 4" - 8" which helps in revegetation. The pit floor will daylight
to the contours on the pit perimeters where possible which will actually be most of the area. This
operation consists of removing the tops of knolls with the final surface left flat.
(B} Earthmoving::
.The earth moving equipment to be used on this site will consist primazily of front-end wheeled
loaders, dozers, self propelled scrapers or any combination thereof.
There will be "no mining" area buffer undisturbed of 50' minimum on either side of the center line
of the power line that crosses the NE1/4 NW 1/4 of Section 22, T21 S, R64W from the northwest to
the southeast.
(C) Water diversions and impoundments:
There will be no water diversions or impoundments on site since no water will be used for this
operation and none is available. The operator is applying for a Colorado Water Quality Control
Division Stormwater Dischazge Permit concurrently with the development of this application.
(D) Size of the area to be n•orked at any one time:
Present plans aze to affect a maximum of 30 acres at any one time. The first azea will be that portion
of the NE1/4 NW 1/4 Section 22, south of St. Chazles Road. When that area is mined out, the
operation will then move west and south to those portions of the SW 1/4 NW]/4 Section 22, After
this is mined out, the operation will continue to the permitted area in the SE1/4, Section 21.
D-1
