These bands have traditionally been designated by chemical analysis. `~~ ~t
The are ve difficult to distinguish in the quarries by visual observation. aximum pit depths .
will likely be,.I ~,.o.~-R~ ~'yt7 d>~av ~, ~.~,..{-, ~ ~
The 4th ormation contains relatively hi h quan'titie of pyrite yvhere it is fresh and C^`~~'•
unaltered. Near-surface weathering has removed the pyrite and has upgraded at least this portion ~ -~ -~
of the 4th Ridge to a useful material, Minin depths in ill be somewhat shallowerb,,~ {a~
than in the other limestone units, with maximum of approximately 30 feet., ~;,~dyl_
S•kr:k" z
\y ~°~
The configuration of mining depicted in the drawings with this report has given consideration to
the possibility of eventual dam construction at grid 9100N. for dam stability reasons min_i~g of
• the,HiCal limestone underneath the proposed dam (and south of the dam) has been limited to a
aximum pit depth eet, egnnrng at a distance of 300 feet north of the upstream tce of
the dam, extras ono t is limestone unit will widen to approximately 1,100 feet from the
outcrop, at which point the pit floors will be nearly 125 feet from the original ground surface.
The stratigraphically higher 2nd ridge will be intersected throughout much of its length by the
HiCal pit; therefore prior removal of the 2nd ridge overburden and limestone material will be
beneficial in that fewer yards of waste rock will be attributed to HiCal mining.
The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th ridges will not be extracted beneath o__ r south of the dam footnrint.
Mining will begin approximately 200 feet north of the projected upstream dam ice and will
advance to the north at a rate commensurate with limestone consumption.
The Harroun f ill be the mine o e enter, inclu ' an office, maintenance
sanitary facilities and equipment Parking and storage area. Some of t e s c
be demolished and some new structures will be built. Existing water and sewer on the Harroun
farm will be upgraded to serve up to 20 mine employees and visitors.
