WFC applied and was granted a new NPDES permit for the New Horizon
Mine by your office. It was approved October 31, 1994 and went into effect January 1, 1995.
WFC's SWMP was fully implemented in 1995, with all ditches, sediment ponds, and clear water
diversion ditches designed and constructed to handle a 2.0 inch, 25yr - 24hr rainfall event.
These designs and structures were submitted to and approved by Colorado Division of Minerals
and Geology. All bulk petroleum storage facilities had impervious containment structures
surrounding them. They were designed and constructed to hold the contents from the largest
vessel plus the water accumulation from a 10yr - 24hr rainfall event. No reportable amount of
petroleum products were spilled or released into any waterway during 1998.
D: \da to \wpdata\storm\985umprp. doc I-3
