~~ <br /> <br />PROPOSED GRAVEL PIT <br />NW; 10-8-50 <br />Harold and Mary Lee Kues <br />WATER RESOURCES, WILDLIFE, VEGETATION AND SOILS INFORMATION <br />Water Resources: <br />Not applicable -excavation to stop above the water table. <br />Wildlife: <br />Antelope, deer, cottontail rabbits, jackrabbits, coyotes and pheasant are <br />at some time present at this site. <br />Vegetation: <br />Principal species include blue grama (Bouteloua gracilis), needle-and-thread <br />(Stipa comata), sand dropseed (Sporobolus cryptandrus), wormwood (Artemisia dracun- <br />culoides), sedge (Carex spp.), cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum) and sunflower (Helian- <br />thus spps.). Irri . <br />49 VIe VIe <br />Range Sites: <br />Julesburg - Sandy Plains <br />Eckley - Gravel Breaks <br />Series Name and Descriotion <br />the Julesburg soil is a deep, well tlrainetl soil <br />with a grayish brown fine sandy loam surface <br />texture and a dark grayish brown, grayish brown <br />and brown sandy loam subsoil. Permeability is <br />moderately rapid and the available water capacity <br />is moderate. Surface runoff is slow, erosion <br />hazard is slight and the soil blowing hazard is <br />moderate. The Eckley soil is a deep, well drained <br />soil with a dark grayish brown gravelly loam sur- <br />face texture and a dark brown and brown gravelly <br />sandy clay loam subsoil. Permeability is moderate <br />and available water capacity is moderate. Surface <br />runoff is rapid and erosion hazard is high. These <br />soils are best suited for grazing. <br />
