Land Use
• The Soil Conservation Service shows no farmland, prime or otherwise, within the
area of study.
Water Yield
Water yield data is not available for this area but its water yield
characteristics are thought to be similar to that of North and Middle Thompson
Creeks.
Soils
Mapping (at a scale of 1:6000) of the soils in the mine area failed to identify
mapable soils along North Thompson Creek (Drawing D-3-14 ). The soils that do
occur, are thin and patchy, and subject to removal by high creek levels.
n
lJ
Subirrigation
A reconnaissance study of vegetation failed to identify areas of Subirrigation
in the nonalluvial areas. In the alluvial areas much of the stream bottom is
tree covered with the typically associated shrubs and grasses. Most likely,
this vegetation receives water from the stream through the coarse sediments, but
there are no large expanses of subirrigated land which could be cultivated.
•
5-9
