THOMPSON CREEK
• Unconsolidated Sediments
Unconsolidated sediments along Thompson Creek consist of thin, intermittent
alluvium as described in the introduction. The alluvium varies in width from
25 feet just down stream from the confluence of North and Middle Thompson Creeks
and up to 200 feet wide just upstream from the confluence with the Crystal
River. A large fan deposit, 25-30 acres, occurs at the mouth of Thompson Creek
(Section 28 and 27 T8S R88W) (Drawing D-5-1).
Flood-Irrigated Land
The fan deposit at the mouth of Thompson Creek is presently being flood-
irrigated with Thompson Creek water. This flood irrigation is based on water
rights held on North Thompson Creek (C. Sherwood, pers. comm.).
• Land Use
Except for the lowest reaches of Thompson Creek, the alluvial areas are not
being used for agricultural purposes. At the mouth of Thompson Creek, the land
is being used for irrigated pasture for grazing or hay production.
Water Yield
Water yield data are not available for the Thompson Creek drainage.
•
5-10
