The
results indicate that diisopropyl methyl phosphonate (DIMP) was not found above the detection limit
of 5 pg/L.
Samples were taken from the Topper well on August 19, 2003 and from the lake on August 6, 2003.
Chain of custody receipts for the sampling events are attached. The samples were taken using the
Colorado Department of Public Health and Emiircnment (CDPHE) Water Quality Control Division;
ground-water pe.-nit gaidznce suggested monitoring we!I sampling protocol. A copy of the permit
guidance is also attached.
The results from the sampling events show that DLMP was not detected above the method detection
limit of 5 ug!L. Copies of the analytical results are attached. The CDPHE Laboratory and Radiation
Services Division was the anal;rtical laboratory used for the sample analysis. This is the same
laboratory used in the initial stages of determining the DIMP plume from the Rocky Mountain Arsenal
in the late 1990'x. The Colorado Water Quality Control ground water standard for DIMP is 8 uJL.
Sampling of'Popper Well
The water well located on the Topper propery was sampled on August 19, 2003. The laboratory
provided sample bottles used to collect the water well samples. The well was pureed of well over 3
well bore volumes. Four samples were checked for conductivity, pH, and tnrbidiry and the results
determine that the well water was stable prior to collecting the samples. Samples were placed into a
Styrofoam "cooler" bps provided by the laboratory. The box contained frozen ice packs. The samples
were submitted to the CDPHE Laboratory within hours from when the samples were tllcen. Standard
chain of custody procedures were used for the collection and delivery of the samples to the laboratory.
The water well is one foot in diameter, has a steel casing, and was completed into the alluvium in
1968. Ralph Topper stated that the depth to water was 36 feet artd the total depth is 86 feet. Well water
ieve!s checked and listed'oelow are close to these valves. The 3 horsepower pump produces
approximately 1 ~0 gallons per minute. The well penetrates the entire alluvial section with the base of
