SECTION 02271.0 RIP RAP <br />• PART 1: GENERAL <br />1.01 <br />All work shall be carried out in compliance with these SPECIFICATIONS and in conformance with the <br />lines, grades and dimensions as shown on the DRAWINGS. <br />1.02 RELATED SECTIONS: <br />Refer to the following Sections for related work: <br />Section 02200.0 Earthworks <br />Section 03300.0 Cast-in-place Concrete <br />PART 2: SPECIFICATIONS AND INSTALLATION <br />2.01 MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS <br />A. Rip rap shall consist of hazd, dense, durable stone, angulaz in shape and resistant to weathering. <br />Rounded stone or boulders will not be accepted as rip rap material. The stone shall have a <br />specific gravity of at least 2.5. Each piece shall have its greatest dimension not greater than three <br />times its least dimension. If approved by CERTIFYING ENGINEER, removed concrete may <br />be used for rip rap provided it meets the other requirements of this section. <br />B. Material used for rip tap will be approved by CERTIFYING ENGINEER if, by visual <br />• inspection, the rock is detetrnined to be sound and durable. MANAGER and CERTIFYING <br />ENGINEER may require CONTRACTOR to furnish laboratory results to verify that the <br />material meets SPECIFICATIONS.
