kind of plant growt~edium. However, it must continually kept in
mind that the mining methods which were used to produce the existing
disturbance strongly limits the number and capability of alternative mine
• plans to produce a suitable reclamation environment. Castle Concrete
Company believes the following plan will accomplish to a high degree
the production of as adequate a reclamation environment as is possible
with the limitations produced by existing site conditions.
TRACT DESCRIPTIONS - The mine area is divided into 3 fundamental tracts
and one sub-tract. They are labelled Tracts A, B, C and A-1 on Exhibit
C. They are briefly described below as to their function and
characteristics.
Tract A - This area occupies the major part of the mine and
covers 90~+ of the previously mined area. Most of the mining will occur
in this tract and will occupy all areas west of the Mining Limit Line
shown on Exhibit C. Some additional mineable reserves may be found to
• the east and next to the Mining Limit Line. If such is found, modifica-
tion of this line will be requested of the Mined Land Reclamation Board,
but all mining east of this line wll be within the present Tract A-1,
although by moving the tdining Limit Line to the east effectively
increases the area of Tract A and decreases Tract A-1 by a corresponding
amount.
Tract B - This knob on the south end of an adjoining Tract A
will be mined for limestone within the reserve area and a few hundred
feet south of the boundary between Tracts A and B. The southwestern
portion of the tract does not contain any limestone but could be mined
for granitic aggregate. The remainder of Tract B will be used for access
roads and stockpiling topsoil removed from Tract B.
Tract C - This tract on the north end of the mine will be one
of the first areas to be completed mining. The area, fcr the ~aost part,
is a steep-walled canyon ar.d contains special, highly valuable red
limestone. This tract may also be used to some extent as access to the
P-D-~*
