mulching, soil amendments, fertilizer, watering, etc., to be tested.
•
Will Castle Concrete commit to an organized, on-going research program
to demonstrate the suitability of the soils for revegetation?
RESPONSE Di5. Experimentation, or more properly, testing

here will be as at the Snyder Quarry berm area. Primarily, testing will
be with the proposed seed mixture on similar media and similar
topographic configurations. Trees and shrubs will also be tested by
transplants, tubelings, and seedlings. The actual program will
closely follow the details given in response to the same question
with respect to the Snyder Quarry. Emphasis is placed on workability
of a simulated plan and not on testing individual species. The program
wil continue for as long as necessary to determine the rate of
success of the proposed plan and to identify any particular problems
in the plan.
17) Please state approximately how many acres will be reclaimed
per year.
RESPONSE D17. As indicated in the plan, the reclamation will
•
closely follow the completion of mining. The number of acres where
reclamation will be initiated each year will vary considerably. In
Tract C, very little will be done until most of the tract is completed
mining. In Tract A, after the first 10 years, the number of acres
should just about equal the number of acres mined which would be
about 3 to S acres/year. Tract B will be much like Tract C
because of its smallness
P-E-19*
