EXPLANATORY ADDENDUM
•
EXHIBIT E
RECLAMATION PLAN
PIKEVIEW QUARRY 77-211
D. Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan

2) P-E-1 - Please state the approximate acreage for the
industrial site and wildlife area.
RESPONSE D2. These acreages are shown on Exhibit F1. They
,.
are approximately 35 acres for the industrial site and 99 acres for the
wildlife area. Of course, these are approximate as the buffer zone
between the two will represent several acres of overlapping combined
use as well as the fact that it depends on how one defines wildlife.
Rodents in the industrial site will undoubtedly be hunted by
raptors.
4) Vertical walls and slopes in excess of 2:1 need to have
their long term stability addressed. If the highwalls are stable
enough, holes could be randomly created of various sizes for plant
establishment and wildlife use. This method or some other similar
method could help break up what would otherwise be anomalous features.
RESPONSE D4. Vertical walls and highwalls will be fairly
•
uncommon on this site, although some terrace backwalls may exist on
the upper parts of the quarry. The creation of holes and offering
pockets of areas where plants can get a foothold would very likely
create instability. Besides the instability produced simply by
creating the holes, the plants would probably not grow. We believe
P-E-14 "'
