In addition the following information is
provided to address the concerns you enumerated.
1. Top soil and overburden stockpiles will be segregated. Topsoil
stockpiles will be identified with signs.
2. Top soil will be removed to a depth of no more than 6 inches.
We anticipate that mining will take more than one season, therefore
top soil stockpiles will be sloped to 3:1 and revegetated.
Revegetation will include a general seed type from recommended
mixture to establish a vegetative cover. See Revised EXHIBIT D.
3. Reject materials will be stockpiles and if there is no market
for the reject materials, then the rejects will be graded out over
the floor of the pit and covered with overburden.
4. Our plan to manage stormwater will be to mine in a manner that
creates a natural holding area for stormwater. Overburden
stockpiles will be placed along the sides and southern perimeter of
the permit boundaries for ease of storage and stopping any flow of
stormwater from the pit. The southeast corner of the pit will be
the low point. As the mining proceeds, a berm constructed from
overburden will be placed along the southern and southeasterly
boundary of the pit to retain the stormwater. The typical plan for
the berm is shown on the revised Mining Plan Map.
5. The previously mined area is now shown on the map. The area is
a convenient source of sandy, gravely material and was used for pit
run material. To our knowledge, no one has processed material at
the pit. The portion of the previously mined area outside of the
proposed permit boundary is also shown. As future home sites and
subdivision roads are constructed, previous uses will likely be
changed.
AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
