1
MINING PLAN (cont) EXHIBIT D
i 1
' clays used for making brick. Both the clay and aggregate operations
are dependent on demand and will operate intermittently throughout
' the year with long inactivity punctuating periods of intense activity.
As each stage begins, soils will be removed and stockpiled in
' setback and right-of-way areas for later use in re soiling and
revegetating the slopes and other areas from which soils have been
' removed. Storage will be on the south and west sides of the pit
in the sight berms. it should be noted a portion of the berm may
' be retained after reclamation is complete. The Department of
Energy and Rockwell Security are still studying the possibility of
' leaving this berm. Please refer to Map Exhibit D-1 for the typical
cross sections of these berms. Stripping ahead of the mining
operation will be reduced as much as possible so as to minimize
' visual impact. It is not expected that any significant amount of
unusable overburden will be encountered.
' Mining for sand and gravel will start in Stage 1 on the south
end of the east parcel of the affected land and proceed to Stage 2
' then Stage 3 on the eastern parcel. when mining is complete in
Stage 3 it will move to Stage 4 on the west parcel and continue
' thru stage 7 to completion.
The excavation for sand and gravel will be set back 30 feet
' from the lease line except where the affected lands adjoin the
Church Pit, MLRB Permit NO M-79-45, there will not be any setbacks.
The slopes left in the Church Pit will be removed at this time so A
' as to blend the floors of the mines and leave one big floor area. ~N
The typical cross section on the Reclamation Map (Map Exhibit F) (,u
' shows how the floors will blend. This removes the ridge of unmined
material running down the adjoining pit boundaries.
' As excavation proceeds, the outside perimeter slopes, ie those
not adjoining the Church Pit, will be left at 2:1 or will be
backfilled to 2:1. The excavation will be setback 30 to 50 feet
from the center line of the Church Ditch and 30 to 50 feet from
' the center line of the McKay Ditch. Sloping here will be 2:1 just
as with the outside perimeters.
' 6
