1 <br /> <br />' MINING PLAN AND TIMETABLE <br />EXHIBIT D <br />' LOCATION <br />The mine is located 1/4 mile east of Highway 93 and adjacent <br />' to the Rocky Flats West Entrance Road. Map Exhibits B shows the <br />general location and vicinity of the pit. The location is approxi- <br />mately 9.00 miles north of Golden, Colorado. <br />' HISTORY. <br />In late 1974, Mr. Marcus Church & Marcus F. Church, Trustee <br />' sold the property to the United States of America, AEC, later renamed <br />the Department of Energy. Mr. Church retained the surface mineral <br />' rights and the right to mine the minerals. The entire area was <br />used for grazing Church Ranch Whitefaced Hereford cattle. After <br />' DOE purchase it became part of an expanded buffer zone for the <br />Rocky Flats Plant. The surface minerals in section 9 have been <br />' mined by various companies for the last 50 years under leases from <br />the Church/MCKay family. <br />' CORRENT CONDITIONS <br />Map Exhibit C shows the outline of the affected land, touching <br />landowners, topography, hydrologic factors and existing facilities. <br />' There are no existing buildings, no power or phone lines, and <br />no gas, water or sewer pipelines on the affected land. <br />' The entice north side of the Rocky Flats Plant west entrance <br />road has been fenced by the Department of Energy to prevent public <br />' access anywhere north of the road. Site-specific aspects of <br />water, wildlife, soils, vegetation and climate are covered in <br />' Exhibits G, H, I/J and K. <br />MINING PLAN <br />' Mining will occur in seven stages so as to minimize surface <br />disturbance at any one time (see map Exhibit D-1).
