J I
•
revegotation plan.
K. Roads and Transportation
Access to the site will be by way of State Highway 82 and the recently
improved River Road. It is anticipated that the traffic resulting from
this action will not increase and, in fact, the peak traffic loading will
probably decrease due to diversification over the construction season.
Should a contractor other than Elam Construction be awarded the 1982 project
contract, then the resultant peak loading will be spread over the six month
construction season, and the high peak period volume that was experienced
last season will be avoided. Assuming a 40,000 ton contract spread over
a four month construction period, the truck traffic should amount to a
maximum of six round trips per hour.
L. Operation and Revegetation Plan
The first step of this operation will be to strip all available top soil
from the excavation site (approximately one acre). This top soil will be
stockpiled and replaced following operation. Following completion of
the project, all slopes will be flattened to a minimum of 4:11 (4 horizontal
to 1 vertical), and the top soil will be respread to a depth of 4 to 6 inches.
Native grass seed will be broadcast over all disturbed areas, fertilized and
raked. The seed mix and fertilizer type will be determined by the Pitkin
County Environmental Coordinator. A performance bond and revegetation
guarantee will be posted with Elam Construction in the amount of $2,000.00
per acre, and all work will be completed within thirty (30) working days
following the removal of the plant.
