upslope drainage controls, depth of mining and depth of remaining materials, this office will probably not approve a
reclamation plan which proposes to create a new slope with a gradient as steep as the natural slope. Additionally,
the reclamation costs reflect that revegetation tasks are to be performed by tractor, indicating that slopes are likely
no steeper than 3: 1. Please define what will be the ma~cimum slope gradient for the reclaimed site. Will the
reclaimed slopes be restricted to cut slopes, or will there be fill slopes too?
If the excavation exposes unsuitable plant growth material, some may have to be respread prior to revegetation. If
reclamation tasks are not to include topsoil or subsoil replacement over any excavated areas which are to be
revegetated, please state what is to be the minimum depth of residual "growth medium" that is to be left for
seeding.
Please provide the revegetation seed mix in terms of "pounds of pure live seed per acre" for each species. Please
also indicate what is to be the application method of the seeding operation.
Please state what is to 6e the type of mulch to be used, the application rate, and the method of application and/or
incorporation.
Please state whether the woody debris that was stripped prior to mining will be respread as part of reclamation of
the site. if it is to be handled or disposed of in another manner, please describe that.
Exhibit E -Mining Plan and Reclamation Maos
The boundary line that is drawn is somewhat "rough" though measurements are given for some of the boundary
lengths. It is hoped that the actual permit area comers can be accurately marked on the ground, in the same
configuration shown on the maps. If record of any bearings or azimuths of the boundary lines exists, please provide
them.
Both the maps show a permit area with a line dividing the site into rivo areas. The map copy in the Durango office
does not clearly show any distinct color difference between the two areas, and the map legends may have some
information cut off of the edge of the page. It is not clear if the map symbols for the mining map include more than
affected area and direction of mining. Also, the map sybmol for the reclamation map is nearly off the edge of the
page and illegible. Does the symbol delineate areas of different slope and/or vegetation? Please clarify these items.
It is presumed that the existing acess road actually extends east to connect to County Road 213, though it appears to
end at the 10-foot setback from the properly line.
If there are overhead or underground utilities, or perimeter fences, or other significant structures not yet identified
in the application, please include the necessary information on the maps and under Exhibit L.
Exhibit L -Significant Manmade Structures
As noted above, please include all necessary information for structures onsite or within 200 feet of the proposed
boundary.
Other Items
The Denver office has notified you of the completeness of this application and that one legal notice is to be
published. After publication, please provide a notarized affidavit from the publisher.
You must additionally send notice to all owners of property on or within 200 feet of the affected land. Please
provide proof of all such notices sent, prior to the decision date.
The initial application materials were correctly filed with the county clerk and recorder. All new materials
pertinent to this application, such as this letter to you and your subsequent follow-up responses, must be
