DRAFT <br />DIVISION 1 -GENERAL REQUIREMENTS <br />SECTION 01300 -SUBMITTALS <br />1.01 GENERAL <br />A. Contractor shall furnish, process, deliver, reproduce and perforrrt other necessary functions incidental <br />to scheduling and handling of shop drawings, project data and samples, operation and maintenance <br />manuals, equipment record sheet, manufacturer's certificate of proper installation, and record <br />drawings, as indicated on Drawings or as specified, and in accordance with provisions of the Contract <br />Documents. <br />B. See appropriate Specificatrons and Contract Document sections for specific items for which data <br />and/or samples are required. See Genera] Conditions for additional information. <br />C. Review or acceptance of substitutions, schedules, shop drawings, lists of materials, and procedures <br />submitted or requested by the Contractor, and all additional costs which may result therefrom shall be <br />solely the obligation of the Contractor. It shall not be the responsibility of the Engineer to provide <br />engineering or other services to protect [he Contractor from additional costs accming from such <br />review or acceptance. <br />D. No equipment or material for which listings, drawings, or descriptive material is required shall be <br />installed until the Engineer has on hand copies of such accepted lists and the appropriately stamped <br />final shop drawings. <br />E. The review of drawings by the Engineer will be limited to general design requirements only, and shall <br />in no way relieve the Contractor from responsibility for errors or omissions contained therein. <br />F. Submittals will be acted upon by the Engineer as promptly as possible. <br />1.02 BACKFILL MATERIAL <br />A. Contractor shall famish a sample of the soil mixture he anticipates utilizing as backfill material from a <br />borrow source with proven capacity to backfill the entire trench. This soil sample will be subjected to <br />permeabiliTy testing afrer being mixed with bentonite from the Contractor's supplier. This testing will <br />determine the percent of dry bentonite that will be mixed into the soil-bentonite backfill in order to <br />achieve a permeability of 1x10- or less. Gradation and Atterberg Limits tests will be performed to <br />establish control on the backfill throughout the project. <br />B.
