(Cont'd.) (3) (b) (i) (Cont'd.) Transportation Facilities Drainage Control Plan The transportation facilities' drainage has been designed and constructed to minimize ero- sion, sedimentation, and detrimental effects to surface and groundwater. The theory used is to direct run-off from facilities to sedi- mentation ponds, if possible, or in order to minimize visual impacts and disturbed area, to use vegetative buffers or straw dikes for ero- sion and sediment control. For specific drainage control around roads or rail spur see Section 2.05. 3(3)(c). (ii) {A & B) All surface drainage from disturbed lands (mine sites and train to adout area) is routed through sedimentation facilities. These facilities are moni- tored and maintained in accordance with 2.05.3(3)(C), Operations Plan, Existing Structures, and will remain so until the disturbed area has been restored. The sedimentation facilities have been designed and constructed to store a precipitation event equal to a ten- year, 24-hour storm. A recording pre- cipitation gauge manufactured by Rel- fort Instrument Company in Baltimore, Maryland, has been installed at the mine site to monitor rainfall events, and the lowermost sedimentation dam (pond ~k4) is equipped with a universal recording stream gauge to monitor dis- charges over the spillway from the low- est dam on the mine site.
