This
report summarized rock mass strengths for the various materials
in the vicinity of the "D" coal seam at the proposed portal cut.
The strengths and soil stratigraphy summarized in this report
were used in the slope stability analysis for the various
alternatives. Bench fill shear strength data was obtained from a
report prepared by Rocky Mountain Geotechnical entitled "Slope
Stability Analysis -Refuse Disposal Area -Red Canyon Mine"
dated August 25, 1981.
Foundation shear strength data summarized in a report prepared by
Fox & Associates entitled, "Geotechnical Investigation for Three
Proposed Retention Dams Located at Red Canyon Mine" dated
December 3, 1979 was used for the bench slope stability analysis.
This report summarizes the various foundation conditions which
can be expected along the canyon where the bench will be placed.
4
