This is consistent with qualitative <br />observations made regarding the two years. In 1991, the <br />mine was noticeably dominated by short shrubs (predominantly <br />Atriplex canescens - Four winged saltbush) and annual forbs. <br />Perennial grasses were dwarfed, dry, and almost wholly <br />isolated to drill rows which were still evident. In 1992, <br />annual forbs dominated in fewer areas than the previous year <br />and had been entirely excluded in many parts of the mine <br />surface, especially at the topographically lower locations. <br />Shrubs were much larger, in some places impeding easy <br />movement (see the bottom picture on page A-7). Perennial <br />grasses were also much more numerous and appeared well <br />5 <br />
