Section 779.22 (a) Continued. <br />Another use is found on much of the proposed permit area, yet is <br />not included in the land use categories defined under 30 CFR 701.5. <br />This use is "mined land" and is by far the major land use within <br />the proposed permit area. This land use results from the fact that <br />the proposed permit area covers both undisturbed land (Eckman Park) <br />and lands presently subject to surface mining and reclamation <br />operations. Energy Fuels will treat these lands as lands "previously <br />mined" within the meaning of 30 CFR 779.27. (b) and therefore, has <br />analyzed premining land uses accordingly. <br />Examination of Twentymile Park Land Use (Map 31) reveals that <br />within the proposed permit area the dominant current or premining <br />land use is rangeland or grazingland. Areas of pastureland can be <br />found to the south of Pinnacle Peak and in Ptine No. 2 along Fish <br />Creek. Cropland can be found within the proposed permit area in <br />five tracts. Within Mine No. 1, immediately nocth of the current <br />• pit is a small wheat field containing 44.7 acres. This area is <br />labeled C1 on the previously mentioned land use maP. <br />On tha north side of Fish Creek in Mine No. 2 is an area of crop- <br />land labeled C2. This field is also planted to dryland wheat and <br />contains a total of 90.1 acres. Immediately south of this tract is <br />land used for hayland containing 44.9 acres and designated on the. <br />land use map as cropland area C3. <br />The fourth area containing cropland witi~in the permit area is a <br />long linear tract at Mine No. 2 and labeled as cropland area C4. <br />This area was planted to hay in the south end and wheat in the <br />north e~id. This cropland area covered 78.1 acres but is now an <br />active mining area. <br />The fifth and only other area that can be considered as cropland is <br />the wheat field on the west side of Energy Mine No. 1 and the <br />. smaller sister field located just to the north.
