Section 779.22 (a) Continued. Another use is found on much of the proposed permit area, yet is not included in the land use categories defined under 30 CFR 701.5. This use is "mined land" and is by far the major land use within the proposed permit area. This land use results from the fact that the proposed permit area covers both undisturbed land (Eckman Park) and lands presently subject to surface mining and reclamation operations. Energy Fuels will treat these lands as lands "previously mined" within the meaning of 30 CFR 779.27. (b) and therefore, has analyzed premining land uses accordingly. Examination of Twentymile Park Land Use (Map 31) reveals that within the proposed permit area the dominant current or premining land use is rangeland or grazingland. Areas of pastureland can be found to the south of Pinnacle Peak and in Ptine No. 2 along Fish Creek. Cropland can be found within the proposed permit area in five tracts. Within Mine No. 1, immediately nocth of the current • pit is a small wheat field containing 44.7 acres. This area is labeled C1 on the previously mentioned land use maP. On tha north side of Fish Creek in Mine No. 2 is an area of crop- land labeled C2. This field is also planted to dryland wheat and contains a total of 90.1 acres. Immediately south of this tract is land used for hayland containing 44.9 acres and designated on the. land use map as cropland area C3. The fourth area containing cropland witi~in the permit area is a long linear tract at Mine No. 2 and labeled as cropland area C4. This area was planted to hay in the south end and wheat in the north e~id. This cropland area covered 78.1 acres but is now an active mining area. The fifth and only other area that can be considered as cropland is the wheat field on the west side of Energy Mine No. 1 and the . smaller sister field located just to the north. These areas have 779-303
