Revised 11/21/3 <br />The same methods used for the baseline vegetative survey will <br />be used to collect the post-mine data. These methods are described <br />in Appendix B. Sample adequacy will be evaluated using the <br />following formula: <br />m = <br />where: <br />2 2 <br />t s <br />D2 <br />m= the minimum number of observations needed. <br />t= a table value (t-distribution) for a given level of <br />confidence. <br />s2= the variance estimate. <br />_~ D= the level of accuracy desired for the estimate of <br />the mean. <br />A t-test will be used to compare the data from the reclaimed <br />areas to weighted averages of the data from the reference areas. <br />The sagebrush reference area will receive 75$ and the grassland <br />type the remaining 25$ of the weight. These figures correspond <br />with the pre-mine acreage of each vegetation type. <br />Reclamation will be considered successful if: <br />1) Cover and productivity of the revegetated area is at <br />least 90$ of the cover and productivity of the weighted <br />reference areas with 90$ statistical confidence; <br />F-11 <br /> <br />
