.• 2:1 slope, and a 0.5 percent sloping top is presented on Figure 1.
Typical sections through the pile are shown on Figures 4, 5 and
6.
CRITICAL STAGES
Critical stages of the construction process which will require
detailed supervision or verification that they are performed
correctly include: (1) periodic testing of the material to
verify that the material is being placed and compacted to the
specified moisture and density requirements; (2) removal of low
strength material to the specified distance from the final toe;
(3) initiation of final construction methods; (4) installation of
the rock drain and filter cloth and (5) initial placement lift
• over the final location of the low strength fine refuse pond
area.
These conditions are critical for verification that proper
construction methods were utilized and for certification by the
responsible engineer.
Although the hydrologic control structures and subsidence
monitoring for the refuse disposal area are beyond the scope of
this report they ace important aspects of the stability of the
refuse pile. For this reason the plan location of these
structures, as presented by GTL, in their January 26, 1981 report
with respect to the disposal pile are shown on Figure 7. Design
• of these structures have not been varified by Rocky Mountain
14
