Most often these are lands and
mineral:, actions.
Too oft<:n the recommendations and requirements for reclaimir,a a site are more
concerned with timeliness and cost than with reconstructing the ecosystem.
The policies and concerns that affected the writing of the Reclamation/
Revegetation Practices are discussed as follows and are in the same format as
the document by that name:
I. Seed Mix - To 8600' Elevation:
A. Include shrubs, forbs, and grasses. Tree plantings and landscaping
are above and beyond stabilizing the area, but possibly should be
included to mitigate other factors such as visual resources,
recreation, etc.
B. Inolude a larger number of species of the shrubs, forbs, and
grasses. Two grasses and yellox clover isn't enough.
C. Separate the species into two batches, chaffy seed and fine seed.
D. Don't require the operator to purchase extremely costly and hard to
get species.
E. Consider historic presence, potential natural community, viability in
the area, and favorability of species selected.
F. Availability of seed is always variable, but select those normally
available.
-21-
