No supplemental fertilizer has been added. <br />RPSU1tc <br />A considerable number of seedlings were evident in the June <br />1981 survey. <br />Recommendations <br />If a good stand of grass establishes from the November 1980 <br />and April 1981 seedings no other work should be necessary on the <br />topsoil stockpile. <br />11au1 Road Embankments <br />ical Characteristics <br />All of the haul road embankments with the exception of the <br />upper me were Constructed in the summer of 1980 and these emba~k- <br />ments were topsoiled. The upper embankrr~nt is a cut slope that <br />was constructed in 1979 and this slope was not topsoiled <br />(Photograph 41 ). <br />Implementation <br />All of the fall 1980 seeding on haul road embankments was <br />with the same seed mix as used m the diversion ditch. On these <br />embankments seed was hand broadcast and raked. On the large flat <br />areas along the haul road the seedbed was prepared by ripping with <br />a field cultivator then broadcasting the seed and harrowing. <br />On the upper haul road embankment which was seeded in the <br />fall of 1979, the seed mix consisted of: <br />Western Wheatgrass 6 <br />Slender Wheatgrass 6 <br />Indian Ricegrass 2 <br />Green Needlegrass 2 <br />Sherman Big Bluegrass 4 <br />This mix was broadcast m the slope and raked in. Fertili- <br />zer was not applied at the time of seeding. <br />Management <br />This area is now within a fenced area and grazing will be <br />restricted. Grazing was intensive on the upper embankment in the <br />
