w
The seedbed was prepared by ripping with field cultivators.
The seed was broadcast with cyclone seeders and harrowed to cover
the seed. No fertilizer was used m this area. Photographs 38
and 39 were taken previous to the reseeding effort.
Management
This area is within the fenced area and grazing will be
restricted. No fertilizer was applied in the spring of 1981.
Results
Photograph 40 shows the slope south of the parking lot.
This slope was seeded in June of 1979 and in spite of intensive
grazing several individuals remain. Observation in June of 1981
indicated that there may be a few bare spots on this slope which
will need spot seeding.
Numerous grass seedlings were observed in June of 1981
around the building complex.
Recommendations
More data wiI1 have to be obtained for specific recom~nda-
tions. However, the stand of grass that was comung up in June of
1981 looked very successful. Spot seeding may be needed on a
couple of areas m the slope south of the parking lot.
Topsoil Stockpile
Physical Characteristics
The topsoil stockpile lies against a hill; thus, the m 1y
exposed slope is a steep east facing slope. The last addition of
topsoil to the stockpile was in November of 1980.
Implementation
The side slope of the stockpile was seeded in November of
1980 with the same mix that was used on the interception ditch.
Additional topsoil was added to the top of the stockpile in Novem-
ber and that was seeded in April of 1981 with the same seed mix.
The sides of the topsoil stockpile were broadcast seeded and raked
and on the top of the stockpile the seedbed was prepared by
ripping with a field cultivator then seeded and harrowed.
.,:.
