N2soerces
1313 Sherman Street, 4th Floor
Denver, CO 80302
Dear Jim:
This letter responds to your January 7, 1981 letter, and it`s organization matches
that of your letter.
A. EXEiIBIT D -Mining Plan
1. The entire site is permitted because Flatiron's lease fYYan the landowner
includes the entire site and because the survey has been written for the
149 acres.
2. Area C is excluded from the mining plan and timetable because it will not
be mined for sand and gravel. The farmer has requested that Area C be
used as a source of topsoil as needed for reclamation. When the inter
state was put through to the north, farming Area C became less productive.
Since Area C has already been disturbed by farming practices, removal
of topsoil will not impact undisturbed land. Enough topsoil will be
left on Area C to keep farm;nq of it viable.
B. EXHIBTT E -Reclamation Plan
1. Reclamation of Area C will involve only seeding when needed topsoil has
been rerroved. Thanks for pointing out that we need to include the cost
of seeding in our bonding costs. The haul road will not be reclaimed.
The eastern haul road is an existing farm road. It leads to the site
of previous m;n;nq on the farm. The western section of the north haul
road will replace the farm road destroyed when the interstate was con-
structed.
2. Topsoil will be removed frcun the new sections of the haul road prior to
stabilization and dust control.
3. Compacted areas will be ripped to a depth of 8 to 12 inches before
topsoil is reapplied.
4. Creation of the Lake is not an essential part of the mining plan at this
pit but has been proposed because of the landovmer's desire for a small
lake near his home. Flatiron will incorporate an island into the
reclamation of the lake to improve the lake as wildlife habitat.
5. The average lake depth will be approximately 10 feet. Obviously, depth
at water edge will be less because the lake bank will slope at 3:1 to
