- Initials
Please note that no samples are required at these
wells
Following is a completed Ground Water Field Data form showing
examples of recorded data. Please note that you should use one form for
each day you collect data.
Sample Collection and Preparation
In order for laboratory samples to provide representative results,
these samples must be collected in a manner which minimizes contamination,
preserved, and promptly shipped to the laboratory for analysis.
• Sample collection
• - The samples should be collected with a minimum amount of
disturbance to the stream bed or well being sampled.
Samples will give unrepresentative results if turbulence is
created in the stream or well prior to sampling.
- Sampling devices - (bailers, buckets, funnels, etc.) must
be clean prior to sample collection. Preferably, these
devices should be rinsed twice with distilled water prior
to and between sampling.
- Samples should be placed in clean containers. Preferably,
they should be placed in sample bottles which have been
prepared and provided by the lab.
- Samples should be of the size and type prescribed. For
example, 1-1000 ml raw and 1-250 ml raw acidified for Site
301. Sample types for each site are described above under
Surface Water and Ground Water.
23-193
