KERR MINE
WATER MONITORING PROCEDURES
Introduction
Monitoring and recording of accurate hydrology data is required to
maintain compliance with regulatory and permit requirements at the Kerr
Mine. This document is intended to explain, in detail, the steps
necessary to correctly collect and record such data.
After collection and recording of the data, they are periodically
reviewed, summarized and submitted to the regulatory agencies in the form
of annual reports. For these reports to be meaningful and responsive to
the permit requirements, data collection and recording must be performed
accurately and completely.
• Following are detailed descriptions of the surface water monitoring
plan, ground water monitoring requirements, instructions for proper sample
collection and preparation, a table summarizing stations, sampling
frequencies and types, and a map showing the locations of water monitoring
stations.
Surface Water - There are currently 17 surface water monitoring stations
located at the Kerr Mine and Loadout. They are divided into three
categories as follows:
• Surface Discharge Points ("SDP")
• Selected Surface Stations (SSS")
• Sample Sites ("SS")
Following is a description of the monitoring and sampling
requirements for each category.
•
23-]78
