•
operations into the Kerr north area questionable. Upon completion of
mining in Pit 1, Kerr Coal will evaluate all relevant factors and pursue
one of two options.
Option 1 is development of additional reserves by opening Pit 2 in the
Kerr north area. If Kerr elects to pursue this option, the previously
submitted permit revision will be reactivated and all relevant questions
relating to revised mining and reclamation plans for the north area will
be addressed through the regulatory review and approval process.
Option 2 is suspension of mining activities and continuation of ongoing
reclamation efforts while near and long term market opportunities are
evaluated. Under this scenario, Kerr would proceed in a timely manner
with reclamation of all existing disturbance areas and would comply with
all applicable regulatory provisions for temporary or permanent cessation
of operations.
•
It should be noted that for either of the previously described options,
the mining and reclamation plans for the Kerr north area presented in this
permit document are no longer relevant and can be disregarded.
Geographic Setting
The Marr Strip Mine is located approximately 10 miles east of Harden,
Colorado, on County Road M12E in Jackson County, Colorado.
