extended reference area (12.25 g/0.5rrr~. Similarly, in 2001 the reclaimed area mean (61.24 g/O.Sm~ is
considerably higher than 90% of the value of the extended reference area (7.84 gl0.5m~. This finding is
validated statistically using the one-sample reverse-null hypothesis test. The decision rules for this test
were:
If t` s t ~,an., a.,,~, conclude failure to meet the performance standard, and
If P > t ~,~~,.,,.,.~conclude that the pertormance standard was met (for a = 0.1 ).
The tabular t value for an a = 0.1 and n-1 degrees of freedom (d.f) for the reclaimed area for 2000
and 2001 is as follows:
2000 Reclaimed Area = 1.6883 2001 Reclaimed Area =1.6883
Calculation of the C statistic for each community results in the following values:
2000 Reclaimed Area = 17.6382 2001 Reclaimed Area = 21.6999
Comparison of the calculated t-statistic (t`) for the revegetated community with the respective tabular t •
value indicates that C is far greater than t resulting in the conclusion that the eroduction pertormance
standard was met at the required significance level of a = 0.1 for the reclaimed area in both 2000 and
2001.
3.4 Dive
Evaluation of diversity in accordance with Rules 3.03 and 4.15 results in a positive finding regarding
the 2000 and 2001 data. In this regard, review of the third section of Table RS 1 indicates that the
diversity of perennial species that contribute between 3 and 60 percent of the relative cover (composition)
for the reclaimed area substantially exceeds the standard for both 2000 and 2001. The standard is a
perennial, non-noxious species, with at least 2 being grass species and 1 being a fort or shrub. In 2000,
the reclaimed area exhibited 4 perennial grasses, 1 perennial forb and 1 shrub within the appropriate
limits for a total of six perennial, non-noxious species. in 2001, the reclaimed area exhibited 5 perennial
grasses, 2 perennial fortis and 1 shrub within the appropriate limits for a total of 8 perennial, non-noxious
species. Therefore. the performance standard has been met with absolute confidence.
~a~ ~n¢ Asffi~c~~, uvc Page 14 Nonn rnompaon creek rinse vnase n a m 9°nd ne~eam e..mmio°
