CHAPTER 2 - DESCRIPTION OE THE ALTERNATIVES
This chapter describes the construction, operation, maintenance, and recla-
mation of each alternative. It also compares the economic feasibility of
each alternative.
The descriptions of alternatives are divided into five parts: physical des-
cription; construction; operations/maintenance; reclamation; and economic
feasibility.
The physical description part describes the general layout, operations,
lenyth and route. The construction part discusses the construction method.
It also describes the short-term post construction reclamation to be com-
pleted before operation. The operation/maintenance part describes the
specific procedures for operating and maintaininy the particular mode of
transport. The reclamation section discusses the shut-down and restoration
procedures utilized upon cessation of operations at Orchard Valley Mine.
Finally, the economic feasibility part compares the costs and benefits of
the alternatives.
The general area of study for all of the transportation alternatives is
shown on Drawing #1. It is generally bordered by Orchard Valley Mine to the
north, Steven's Gulch Road to the west, State Highway 133 to the south, and
CWI's storaye and loadout area to the east.
•
M
5
