• The 18.6 acre area immediately cast of the existing Spicer clay pit will be reserved for
additional process water settling ponds, while the remaining excavation will be backfillcd as
much as possible with natural Cincs from the gravel screening plan[. Gravel recovery is
estimated at 50%, and exhaustcd portions of the mining area will be backfillcd to
approximately 30 to 40 feet below original grade. Reclaimed pit slopes will be no steeper than
3Hto1 V.
The second pi[ will be developed along the northern edge oC the 1\4cKay lease and will
progress incrementally to the south in three lifts of approximately 20' each, similar to those
dcscril~ed above. Each southward increment will involve stripping overburden Crom an 8 - ]0
acre p;trcel to expose additional reserves and placing this overburden on the slopes and bottom
of the mined-out portion of the pit. Then the newly-exposed section will be mined to ultimate
depth prior to stripping the next increment. A 25 - 30' setback will be maintained Crom
• property lines, but there will be zero setback from the existing Associated Aggregates pit
adjacent and to the east of the McKay lease.
Again, disturbed acreage is minimized by advancing all three lifts simultaneously, and
exhausted portions of the pit will be backfillcd to within 30 to 40 feet oC original grade with
reject material from the gravel screening plant. The overburden stockpile located at the
western edge oC the initial pit phase will be reserved for use in reclaiming the portion of the
Icase last mined. Additional reclamation details are discussed in Exhibit E.
Equipment for gravel mining may include, but is not limited to an excavator, front-end
loaders, bulldozers, scrapers, and haul trucks. The mine plan currently calls for excavating
sand and gravel during daylight hours Cive to six days per week from mid-March to mid-
December. The gravel processing plant will recover gravel at an average rate of 500,000 T/year
• of aggregate products until the deposit is exhaustcd many years in the Cuture.
2
