Foidel Creek Station 2 was sampled previously in 1975 and 1979 and the
results of the three years are presented in Table 5. Comparisons are difficult
due to the lack of flowing water in 1980. Riffle invertebrates had a very
high density in 1975, but diversity values were similar to 1979. The higher
density in 1975 was due to large numbers of chironomids and oligochaetes
during the August sampling. Pool invertebrate densities were higher in 1980
than in 1979 due primarily to increased numbers of tubificid worms. Diversity
values and number of species decreased considerably in 1980, probably the
result of cessation of flow.
