Third Ave.
Durango, Colorado 81301
Dear Mrs. Cugnini
April, 23, 1986
I have examed the soils and vegetation on your proposed gravel pit located
on Florida Mesa. The soils are classified as Us tic Torriorthents, loamy-
skeletal, mixed Mesic. Basicly they have a thin surface layer over deposits
of gravel and cobble. The pH of the soil is pH 7.0 (neutral) and there
are no salts present that will effect plant growth.
Where possable the top 1 foot of soil should be stock piled to reclaim the
site when the operation is finished. Even though there is a great deal
of gravel and cobble, this material has sufficiant soil material to provide
for plant growth.
Attached is an ECS-2 form indicating the kinds of plants that are present
on the sit presently. Also attached is a ECS-5 form showing a recommened
grass seeding mixture for areas that are to be reclaimed.
I we can be of any further assistance, please let me know.
Sincerely,
c~~-U~~ -
Soil Scientist
0 Ths Soil Conaervalion Service ~ SCS-AS-1
V is en eOencY of the 10-Te
DeOerimenl of Apncullure
