Grade area to a generally smooth and uniform scrface;
2. Wet and recompact fill in depressions and holes caused by
stripping and grubbing up to the general stripped surface
level; and
3. In the process area, wet and recompact the foundation
surface prior to placement of the first lift of fill.
4.2 Lined Area
t In areas where liners are placed directly on the stripped
surfaces, the foundation shall be prepared in the following manner:
1) remove any depressions or mounds and grade the foundation to the
limits and grades shown in the drawings; 2) remove an}~ sharp or
protruding objects which may damage the liner; and 3) wet and
compact the foundation with three passes of a 10-ton smooth-drum
vibratory compactor to provide a smooth surface. ThE~ prepared
surface shall be compatible with the liner manufacturer's
recommendations and approved by the Engineer prior to liner
placement.
' In areas where liners are to be placed on fill, the upper and
final lift of the fill shall comply with Section 5.2 of the
Specifications. The lift shall be compacted to the required density
specification and finally rolled by a minimum of three passes of a
10-ton smooth-drum vibratory compactor to provide a smooth surface.
The prepared surface shall be compatible with the liner
manufacturer's recommendations and approved by the Engineer prior
to liner placement.
N-6
