2.4-2
2.4.3 Topsoil Stockpile Design and Management
Updated information on topsoil stockpiles is contained in the Munger
Canyon Permit Revision for the Central Facilities Permit, Volume VI.
This information includes detailed plans for the construction and
management of stockpiles. The revision includes designs to combine
the stockpiles from the road and waste rock disposal area into one
topsoil stockpile Located as shown on Figure 2.2-8. 6s. This
stockpile will also receive the topsoil that will be salvaged during
construction of the mine conveyor system. An additional topsoil
stockpile is to be build near Xighway I39 to receive the topsoil
from the central area. Please refer to this updated information.
Topsoil will be deposited in these areas with the equipment used for
its removal. Removal will be done mostly with scrapers although it
will be necessary in some areas to use a loader and truck haulage.
Compaction of the stockpile will be achieved by multiple passes of
this equipment and will provide adequate slope stability for these
small structures.
The stockpiles have been located with consideration for surface
water runoff originating from precipitation events and potential
disturbance by normal mine operations. The location the stockpile,
south of the road, will necessitate the construction of a ditch
up-gradient to intercept and divert surface flow from the
undisturbed areas around the pile. This ditch is shown in Figure
2.2-8.6s. Sedimentation control ditches will be constructed around
the perimeter. These ditches will collect runoff from direct
precipitation on the stockpiles and will flow to the sedimentation
basins. These ditches and basins will be cleaned as required and
the topsoil removed will be placed back on the stockpile.
Stockpiles will be top graded to prevent concentrated water flow.

/~Nd ~
P7U 1; ?2/93
