COLORADO a0771
uoa~ aa~ eao]
May 1, 1984
Ms. Sandra Emrich
Reclamation Specialist
Mined Land Reclamation
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Sandy:
Re: Seneca II Mine, Minor Revision No. 9 - Truck Wash Facility
Attached please find five (5) copies of material supporting a request
for Minor Revision No. 9, Truck Wash Facility, Seneca II Mine, Permit
No. C-005080. This truck wash was included as a part of Minor Revision
• No. 3, approved July 25, 1983. This facility was never constructed.
Peabody Coal Company now proposes to change the location of the truck
wash and add a small sediment pond adjacent to the facility (see Exhibit
7-16, attached). The original location for construction of the facility
was adjacent to the Wadge Impoundment. The new location, near the
P6M Building, will better serve the mines needs.
The following items were taken into consideration in the design of
the facility.
Water Usage
' Existing water usage from the Wadge Impoundment for dust control
is 340,000 GPD for 160 days/year for a total of 171.9 acre-feet.
' The truck wash use will be 100,000 GPD for 240 days/year for
a total of 73.7 acre-feet.
' Potentially a total of 245.6 acre-feet (171.9 + 73.7) per
year could be used from the Wadge Impoundment.
' The water right on the Wadge Impoundment as shown in Volume III,
Tab 7, Appendix 7-8 of the Seneca II Permit Application is
270 acre-feet per year.
•
