Baker:
The following is my recommendation for reclaiming [he Andesi[e Rnck
Company quarry near Lyons, Colorado:
1. Soil material containing oil Erom areas including roads, work
area, fuel area, etc., that have been oiled should be scraped
off and buried in an arcs that will not erode or leach.
?. Topsoil from the overburden should he stockpiled and spread
over the entire area, except tho slope directly adjacent to
St. Vrain Creek, to a depth of 6-12 inches. The greater the
depth the better the chance of establishing a vegetative cover.
• This material should also he packed and ]eval.
s. The slc•pe into St. Vrain Creek should be left as it is at the
present time - riprapped with: large rock.
a. 1'he following mix should be seeded:
Species Va riet~~ lbs. _PLS*/Ac_
Sidenats grama Vaughn l.0
Little Bluestein Pastura 2.(1
Blue grama Lovi.agton L.0
Western wi~eatgrass Arriba 4.0
*PLS = Pure Live Seed = Purity x Germination _ 100
i. Drilling this seed with a good grassland drill that has dr_pth
bands, seedbox agitation and packer wheels is necessary.
Addend uia E:<hinir l
o
