with approximately 8 inches of overburden and 4 inches of topsoil consistent with the
reclaration plan.
Phase 2 will begin with the stockpiling of topsoil in the south portion of the azea and
segregated from the overburden stockpile ofphase 1 to prevent contamination. The
overburden of Phase 2 will be stockpiled in the north portion of the azea. Mining will
proceed in the same manner as Phase 1. Approximately 3 acres of a predisturbed azea
totaling approximately 20 acres exist immediately within the north boundary line of
Phase 2. There has been mining activity in that azea prior to the application for this
permit. Topsoil and overburden have been removed from the area. No grading or
reclamation efforts aze evident. The area has vegetative cover typical of rangeland which
minimises risk of erosion or off-site impact.
Sand and gravel are the primary commodities to be extracted and will be distributed
on Kiowa County roads. There aze no expected incidental products to be mined.
