The life of the pit will be about 25
years. Mining will move from south to north. This is a dry pit and no water will be used.
There will be no applicable CO water laws and regulations governing water rights. The
ground water will not be disturbed as it is much deeper than the 15' to 25' depth of the
pit. According to NRCS data in this township and range, 75 feet is the estimated depth to
ground water. No refuse, acid, or toxic producing materials aze present in the permitted
area.
No water impoundments are located at the site, and any runoff will be naturally
drained to the southwest. Post-mining use of this area will be rangeland. The outslopes
of the pit area will be graded to 3:l minimising erosion and providing a configuration
consistent with rangeland use.
The pit will be accessed from Road 78 by a 20' by 2l 60' unimproved road along the
south boundary of the permitted area. Mining will be a simple removal process. There
will be no buildmgs, processing facilities, or underground openings at this site.
Mining will occur in two phases. Phase 1 will be 5 acres beginning at the South
boundary line. Topsoil will be stockpiled on the southern portion and overburden on the
northern portion of that area. A berm approximately 3 feet in height will be placed along
the east side of the area to prevent water runoff in the mining azea. As conditions require,
the mined substance will be pushed in to the pit by bulldozers or front end loaders will
remove materials directly from the pit walls provided safety standards can be met. This
procedure will begin near the center o f the area and gradually expand until the
boundaries of the area have been reached. The sand and gravel will be either loaded
directly on trucks for removal from the pit area or stockpiled for future removal. Trucks
will exit the mining area at the Southwest corner of the area and travel East to Road 78,
A road from ground level to the floor of the pit will be maintained with sufficient slope to
accommodate the movement of equipment in and out of the mining area. Phase 1 of the
mining plan will end with moving the overburden stockpile southward in to the pit floor
of Phase 1 in preparation for redistribution over Phase 1. In conjunction with the opening
of Phase 2, the walls of Phase 1 will be graded to no greater than 3:l slope and covered
