M N 3~
6. Only suitable quality soil for vegetive growth will be stockpiled and used in reclamation
and will include the top existing surface horizon(s).
Topsoil will be replaced as evenly as practical. Soil testing will be preformed as needed
on disturbed and undisturbed areas of the affected land. Lf necessary, slow releasing
fertilizer, such as "Bisol", will be applied to topsoil after placement at the following rate:
10 Ibs per acre Nitrogen
40 Ibs per acre Phosphate
REVEGETATION:
1. Revegetation will include establishment ofself-sustaining vegetive cover at least equal in
extent of the cover and natural vegetation in general of the surrounding area.
2. The final reclamation will have small groupings of trees transplanted from later phases of
mining.
3. Final slops will not be too steep to be traversed by livestock or wildlife.
4. Environmental factors such as seasonal patterns of precipitation, temperature and wind,
soil texture and fertility, slope stability, and direction of slope face are considered in
selection of vegetation species in regarding configuration design. There will be no grazing
allowed.
5. To insure adequate establishment of diverse and long lasting vegetation cover, site
preparation will include discing, application of soil amendments and fertilizers as needed,
drilling and broadcasting or hydro seeding on slopes (3:1) or less and mulching with straw
or hay at 2 tons per acre.
6. Weed control will be employed if invasion of a weed species seriously threatens the
continued development of desired vegetation in the reclaimed area or nearby, (adjacent)
areas.
A limited number of access roads will be retained to provide access for seeding and
reclamation inspection.
8. Normal stabilization of disturbed surfaces will be performed in all disturbed areas. No
seeding will occur in areas where chemical or physical characteristics of the surface and
underlying material of the affected land is deficient in plant nutrients, or composed of
sand, gravel, shale or stone to such an extent as to seriously inhibit plant growth and such
condition cannot feasibly be remedied by chemical treatment, fertilization, replacement of
