Mine entrance is covered by a heavy duty grate just larger than the mine opening itself. The
grate is permanently attached to the wall rock surrounding the mine entrance. The grate was
installed by the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, Office of Inactive Mines, in 1990.
Access to the Mine through the grate is by a hinged, locked door installed in the grate.
The door is approximately two feet wide by two feet high. Applicant will enlarge the door to
facilitate loading of specimens and broken lepidolite ore into trucks.
Ventilation. Applicant believes that ventilation of the Mine will be adequate without
the installation of ventilation equipment because the grate allows adequate circulation of outside
air throughout the shallow drift of the Mine.
Stockpiles, Dumps, Etc. Applicant does not anticipate the necessity for construction of
any new waste dumps, ore stockpiles, tailings impoundments or other surface facilities.
Paragraph (f) of Exhibit E-Map describes and identifies various waste dumps left by
previous operators. None of these dumps are within [he affected lands, and Applicant does not
intend to disturb them.
(f) Dimensions of Sigrrif c~uri Surface Disturbances. Applicant does no[ anticipate
the need for new waste dumps, stockpiles, tailings ponds, settling ponds, or any processing
facilities. Accordingly, Applicant does not expect to cause any surface disturbance on the
affected lands, other than that caused by small trucks entering, turning, parking, loading and
departing in the Mine entrance area.
(g) Dimension of Road. The access road described in Paragraph (e) of this Part B
above, is the only road necessary for Applicant's operations. The exact location of [he access
road is shown on the Location Map included in Exhibit A -Legal Description and Location
Map, on Exhibit E-Map, and further information concerning Applicant's access to [he Brown
Derby Mine is included in Exhibit G - Source of Legal Right to Enter. The road is
approximately two miles from Highway 162 to [he Mine. Within the affected lands, the road
varies from eight to 12 feet in width. No improvements are necessary prior to Applicant's use.
(h) Water Usage. Water will be required only for drilling purposes on an intermittent
basis. All water necessary for drilling is expected to be transported to the Mine by the
independent contractor in portable tanks or drums. Water used for drilling purposes essentially
will be consumed in the drilling process.
(i) Ground Water. To Applicant's knowledge, the Mine is dry year-round, and
Applicant does not expect to encounter ground water. Applicant knows of no ground water or
surface water on the affected ]ands, including inside the Mine.
Q) Colorado Water Law. Applicant will not appropriate any water for its operations
at the Mine. Applicant does not need any water for its operations which cannot be transported to
the Mine in a portable tank.
Exhibit C - 4
